Cravings

Cravings is the #1 thing to ruin any diet let alone the hCG Diet! Eating 500 calories is a day is considered a VLCD (very low calorie diet) and unfortunately cravings feeling of hunger will happen and the reality is it's hard to over come.

So here are a few tips that work for me.

1. Chew your food slow
2. Drink a cold glass of water
3. L Glutamine in powder form
4. Peppermint
5. Cut out any artificial sweeteners for a few days

Okay chewing your food slow and eating slower in general will slow give your brain time to register that it has eaten.

Drinking water 1st will give your body time to determine if you were dehydrated or hungry. Sometimes your body will give you the same signals when it's really craving good old fashion cold water.

L Glutamine, an amino acid, can stabilize blood sugar and decrease alcohol cravings. Glutamine does this by several mechanisms. When the blood sugar is low, Glutamine suppresses insulin to stop the further decline of the sugar levels. It also stimulates glycogen (a stored form of glucose) to be released to help increase the blood sugar to normal levels.

Peppermint, this is really pretty old trick, but taking a few drops the essential oil peppermint and mixing it with distilled water or filtered water in a small bottle with a roller for a top does work for me. I just roll this on my tongue a few times when I feel cravings and the taste is I am craving is gone.

IF I feel I'm having extra cravings then I cut back on my AS intake it's a known trigger to start you on a roll that you can't get off of.

These are just little helpful tips! See hCG diet cravings for more tips!!

  2. I'll try that peppermint essential oil trick, since I already have it in the house. I also have a really good peppermint/ginger tea that I love. I don't like Stevia, so since splena and nutrasweet aren't allowed, I'm not doing ANY artificial sweeteners at all.

  3. Jenna the 1st few days are the hardest. Water Water Water and more Water. I go to bed early on those days!

I am actually thinking ANY AS is bad not only cravings wise but how it maybe derived. There is a brand of Stevia without the aftertaste. www.nunaturals.com This is the only one I like. But I haven't tried the on in the grocery store, I get this from the health food store.

  4. Another trick I've learned is just simply eating ice chips. This will hopefully distract you from your cravings. After all you are eating, even if it is only ice. Right!

  5. O yes! I munch Sonic ice. There ice is like little rabbit pellets and it's soft so you won't hurt your teeth. AND it gives you that much and crunch that, let's face we, you just want sometimes!!
