The question is, really asking, "How do I not get fat again?", "How do I stop the emotional eating?" And that is a harder question to drill down too because there are so many factors that play a role in the WHY of it. The how is easy and straight forward.
You can take a clinical approach; Obesity is like any other disease and must be treated as such, these are the foods, ie. your medicine, to maintain your health, go for it. Only 1/3 of the issue will be addressed and last time I checked, we, people are a whole person.
Addressing emotional issues is the bigger issue, but still it is only 1/3 of the issue. Emotional eating can cause many to be a long term dieter, diet failure and a vicious dieting cycle.
Addiction is the other 1/3 that is often overlooked and not talked about a lot in relationship to food and over eating and obesity. But yet there are similarities and relationships to emotional eating issues.
My most successful weight loss and maintenance was Atkins Low Carb, 5 years of low carb eating. But I was vigilant, determined and my life was at a calm even keel point. My 2nd weight loss was hCG dieting and I can't even tell you the success I found, but again I rebounded due to that 1/3 emotional eating that lead back to the other 1/3 of addiction.
So when people ask after the diet what foods should I avoid, it's a masked question for, "How do I overcome what made me fat?", "How do I avoid being in that state of unhappiness that made me fat?" or some other question related to healing the deeper issue or issues.
And that I can attest to, it is a process. I have not conquered it all, but I have the tools to address each area and I have started using them again. What you will find when you start peeling back your onion, not just one thing will resonate with your, your mind, your body or your soul and it truly takes a commitment to you and habit building.

How to Live with Yourself
The Texas Elimination Diet. Good way to find what foods you need to avoid long term in your life.
Exercise. Well if you have read any posts of mine before you know I'm a fan of T-Tapp, but again that may not be for you. Jogging, Yoga, Biking, Walking, Swimming, Kick Boxing, Zumba, Belly Dancing, Ballroom Dancing, anything that you can do to keep a positive state of mind, makes you feel good about yourself. Exercise has many positive benefits on your mind and health. Here is a quick article, Exercise Good Even Without Weight Loss.
Meditation. I use to do it daily, then broke away from it, the picked it up again, then broke away, now back. In 96/97 there was a lot internet, but today there is much much more. I like Silva Method, but I stared with this system. I can tell you, Probable Future, the tapes (they offer CD's now) are excellent and would help induce an open mind and meditative state pretty quickly.
As I've demonstrated to myself, it's a process you have to be dedicated and build habits to reinforce the dedication and build habits that make you feel good about you.
It's not highly probably you will be happy every second of every day, but having inner peace will help you maintain your weight loss. Being happy within will help to shield you from emotional eating that can lead to addiction.
For myself I know this to be true. And I am passing what I've learned and what I continue to learn on to you.
Enjoy!
